Well here we are again, another year almost over. This year has been quite productive for FAQSlandStudio. FAQS’ series, the Book of FAQS is now over and we are back at FAQSland making Volume 2. Funnily we originally had made only 9 episodes finishing with FAQS on Electricity. The thing is, only a few days after that episode was released, YouTube decided to go from 3:4 to 9:16. This was unexpected and after seeing the FAQS videos with those huge black pillars either side of the screen we had to do something about it. It was too late to do anything about the first nine but there was no rules about making a 10th vid; FAQS on Wide Screen. Although that was good fun and left it on a nice round even number, it still didn’t feel right. So with that I decided to take 2 episodes from Volume 2 and added them, in 9:16, to the first series. This made an even twelve, it felt right and was left at that. The good thing is it gave some fresh ideas a run and gave us (FAQS and I) a chance to use the widescreen while it was still only a few days old.

There is now a Christmas episode, as I’m sure most of you would be aware of by now. This was not supposed to be part of the series, and I for one don’t class it as that. It just so happened that the last Friday before Christmas was the next one on from the end of the series. I liked the idea of a Christmas episode from the start, but this particular episode was based on being a “greeting card” style episode. Now, thanks to YouTube, this episode can actually be sent an e-card.

Well, the new series is soon to be out and we madly animating away. There are also some other projects that are being thrown about so don’t be surprised to see something other that FAQS in the new year too. With that I wish you all a happy and safe holiday season, hope to see you all again soon.

FAQS on Friday

FAQS on Friday! It's here again, this weeks episode is: FAQS on Electricity- FAQS on Electricity teaches us it is possible to be struck by lightning,.. and LIVE to tell the tale. FAQS learns that flying kites Ben Franklin style should be listed as an extreme sport.

If you haven't been to YouTube to see it yet don't worry, you can see it here. The best part is that you don't have to go zooming around all the pages AND... all you get is FAQS and the Book of FAQS. This is great because not only do you get all the episodes in one spot, you only have to press play once and the whole lot play just we intended. If you haven't tried one out, give it a go.

Making FAQS on Electricity was as much fun as all the rest. By the time this one was being made, we were secretly feeling a little bad (although, kept going), it was almost like "Right, what can we do to him this time?" The thing is, FAQS seems to shrug it off, possibly the best lesson of all.

This episode quickly became one of my personal favorites, I always loved the story of Benjamin Franklin. Funnily (and to equal horror), did you know that you have a better chance of being struck by lightning than winning the lottery? Did you know a single lightning blot can deliver 1 Billion volts of electricity? How about this one; there are people that have been struck on 2 or more different occasions... so much for "lightning never strikes the same place twice" hey?
